I voted for Nani, because I feel she's one of the least-appreciated characters on the show. I like Gantu as well, but I had to throw in my vote for Nani.
Here we go with my spouting boringness .x3
I mean, I hear all these people say ' Nani is soooo mean', ' nani blah blah blah', just negative things about her.
So, I've got to say this:
-Nani lost her parents as well. Though it might not make sense to hear this, the loss of her parents is probably worse to her than it is to Lilo. I'm not denying Lilo is forever traumatized by that event, but think about it....Nani grew up with them, Nani knew them, she'd spent more time with them. Yes, it's terrible for Lilo to have lost her parents at such a young age, truly awful..But think about how Nani must have felt. Her parents, that she'd always known and loved, who had always been there for her, gone. All the responsibility of raising her sister on her hands, and with only the budget she can get, it's probably really hard. She looked about my age, and I've only been in college for about a year and a half. I'm not so sure Nani even had that opportunity, so she does the best she can to support Lilo like a parent.
..Of course she makes mistakes, she's human like the rest of us. She isn't fully mature enough to handle the great responsibility of being the parental figure in lilo's life, because she wasn't ready to take that burden on. But I think she's done a great job of it, and Lilo should know that from that episode where she had to take care of four kids.
- Of course she doesn't like all the experiments. She's probably worried about lilo getting hurt, and losing her like she lost her parents. Lilo is nani's last connection to her family, the only thing she has left to remind her of her parents...Which is the reason why she needs the young girl more than lilo needs her. Lilo didn't have that same connection or bond.
- Nani seems to have just as few friends as lilo does, being so busy. Yeah, she has David..But it's not like she's mrs popular. She probably knows what lilo is going through, and is looking out for her.
Think of it like this..
Let's say two people lost their best friend. Person A had known their friend for a loooong, looong time. They did everything together, they grew up together. Person B only knew their friend for a year or so, and did some growing together, but not a lot. Yes, they both hurt, but who do you think hurts more? Person A.
Yeah, I think Nani hurts worse about what happened, but she's strong for Lilo, trying to emulate the role of both mother and father figure. You gotta respect that. I know I do. =3 I have a young sister, so I can totally relate to Nani..Except you know, I have both parents still. x3;;
