Miriam knew she was risking her life and unwhipped back as she crept into the temple for some food to give to her sick mother. She stopped short as she heard the voices, and her heart skipped a beat. She had no idea what the priests were talking about, but she knew it was important, since they said Anubis. She knew Anubis was the jackal-headed god of the underworld. She kept out of sight and her heart was beating so loudly, she actually shushed it softly. "Hush, or they'll know I'm here! Stop making so much noise!" She furoiusly whispered, pointing to her chest.

Badru sneered, making a face at Huy as he walked away. " A wonder that oaf got such a cushy position he clearly didn't deserve," he muttered, though it was loud enough for anyone else to hear, if they cared to listen in.

Huy twirled about. SURELY a common priest had not just said that, and to his face, no less! Well, his back... but that didn't really matter. "YOU! What did you just say! It is time you learn some respect!"

Badru just sneered. He'd payed all the respect he could muster over a period of 15 years, and he couldn't stand it anymore! He knew this could bring trouble, but then again, it was trouble he wanted. " What's wrong? Can't handle the truth? Why the pharoah appointed you..Hah. I can't imagine."
Kanika looked up, hearing something momentarily. She stood up and looked around, curious as to who else was here. " Hello?" She paused for a moment, waiting..But Miriam had since silenced herself. Frowning, Kanika decided to go looking for Badru.
"..If anyone can get that stolen item back from him, the pharoah would surely reward he or she with anything their heart desired."

"How DARE you insult the Pharaoh's decisions! He is a GOD!" cried Huy, though of course, he was a mite more offended at the fact that Badru was insulting HIM. "You are a priest, and might I remind you that it is your job to SERVE gods!"

Badru should have been worried about the allegations he was making against the pharoah, given the idea they believed he and any successors were, indeed, gods. But, Badru was one of those rare priests that came along every once in a while who dared to question the pharoah's authority, dared to question the ways that had worked for so long.
..Mainly, he wondered how they could better work in his favor. His greed far outweighed his common sense, if he had any.
" Badru!"
Kanika had finally found him, and felt her heart drop. As what some called an 'Anubite', she was, for the duration of her life, bound to the tasks appointed to those who served anubis, ranking just below the priests and priestesses of that particular deity. Not by much, but still enough for some of her fellow workers to gloat about.
She placed a hand on the man's shoulder, shaking her head. It was her life, her job, everything at stake as well, if it turned out he had stolen this item from one of the tombs she was supposed to protect. After all, that was the duty of an Anubite..
To protect the dwellings of a pharaoh and his final resting place. She lived in one or the other place, depending on her job, but for now she was seeking who had managed to cause her to slip up in duty.
She feared it was Badru who was the culprit, but with all the grave robbers of the day, she couldn't be certain. That was one of the reasons, if perhaps the only one, she didn't want anyone else to send the horrible priest to jail or death, lest she be found out as making a grave error in her own purpose.

Huy shook his head. He knew the other priests were jealous of his position, but normally they gave him at least SOME respect, just out of fear of what he could do if the Pharaoh was informed. Ah well...

Badru frowned, but seem more inclined to listen for now, though he made certain to give Huy one last sneer before walking deeper into the temple. Kanika waved her hands dismissively, as if trying to apologize for the man. " I fear I must warn you, priest...one of the pharoah's ancestors is displeased. A sacred and essential item has gone missing, and I thought you as high priest should let it be know." She gave a light bow of the head. Just because she said something was stolen, didn't necessarily make it her fault. After all, there were numerous tombs, numerous 'anubites' watching over them..Who was to say it was her fault other than her or the dead themselves?
Nice thing about the dead. They never did do too much speaking.
( e___e I swear at some point I'll be going somewhere with this .xDDDDD)

Miriam's eyes glistened. She heard absolutely nothing after "If anyone can get that stolen item back from him, the pharoah would surely reward he or she with anything their heart desired." She wondered what this stolen object was, and ran quietly out of the temple. She decided not to tell her friends or family. She needed that object.
((Is Moses alive? Who's gonna be Moses boo hoo!! I have a very weird way to ensure she will get that object....MWAHAHAHAHA!!))
