"Oh, you don't have to do that," said Princeton hurriedly, his face growing even redder. "You should focus on getting into college; I can find my own job... but thanks anyway. I... I think you're really nice, Suki, that means a lot to me..."

Suki blushed slightly. "Jobs are.... well, I just want to help you. And I always stick to my promises. Schadenfreude? That's not really honorable...." She looked away, letting go of Princeton's hand. "S-sorry," she said, indicating that she had held it for so long.

Princeton smiled slightly. "No, it's f-fine... I mean... um... god, this is coming out r-really wrong..." He looked away. "Can I tell you something private?" And he went on before she could respond, still staring intently at the wall, "Christmas Eve told me when I first moved here that Kate and I would be a cute couple, and I think Kate might like me, but... I think I like someone else." He laughed nervously. "But why am I telling you this; Christmas Eve's the th-therapist...?"

"That's not why people obey Christmas," said Princeton, laughing quietly, "they obey her because they're scared she'll 'kirr' them otherwise. A-and... you asked who I liked... it's... it's you, Suki." His face was as red as it could possibly be now, and he looked ready to run for it if Suki said she didn't like him back.

Suki's blush got even deeper. "I.... I have no idea what to say, Princeton.... I.... I mean, you're really nice and you actually listen to my internet rant.... plus, you're pretty attractive yourself. I'm flattered, to say the least...." She looked at her feet, blushing. "I have to g-go.... I'll see you tomorrow. I'll be in my apartment or here all day!" She stood up, left some money, bowed, and ran off, blushing a rich crimson.

Princeton stood in the café alone for a minute, watching her go. He had known this would happen. He'd known her for two hours, how the heck was she supposed to know if she loved him... or even just liked him as a friend...? How was HE even supposed to know; why had he even SAID that? Maybe they would have been GREAT friends, but now he'd blown it, wanting more, biting off more than he could chew. He went home. And stoof.
