I have no idea...I always called them "kids".
Maybe it's because Stitch is a "dog".

I'm pretty sure it's because animal babies are often called pups, and experiments are more like animals than people.
Plus, they don't really age, and kids implies that they'd be young and then grow up...
I have no idea. xD

But why pups? I mean, not all babies are called pups, not even dog-like animals. There's cubs and kits and puppies, too!

Experiment cub? X3 that seems to make more sense in my mind,now that I think about it.
It's like...puppies/pups are domesticated and cubs aren't. Experiments are on the wild side. XP
I've a couple of my kitty critters paired up with Stitch aliens,so I lean towards kits...
