Recolors

They do suck, Not the people who use them stop trying to objectively start a flame war *cough* Sexon *cough*

Breeze and Socom and Snafuangel could have easily done all their art as recolors, but they didn't they drew even though they were bad at it, and now their alot better.
Which is exactly why i think everyone else should draw their fancharacter not recolor.

i can state a good few reasons why.

1. a recolor means your experiment will just look like Stitch with a different color scheme theres really not much you can alter besides the color (Stitch and Angel are the most used recolors)
2. Doing a recolor doesn't give your character much attention, if it's drawn no matter if its good or very amateur if its interesting it will get noticed.
3.if you absolutely cannot draw your experiment the way you want, get photoshop or Flash or Toon boom and retrace an experiment (don't do other peoples characters without permission) and since retracing is giving you a point of reference on drawing characters you should be able to try sketching them out without tracing.

Tracing can make you better at drawing but only if your tracing and studying the drawing you are tracing over or else you won't really learn anything.

I Still stand by my statement
I Think Recolors (Recolors ONLY) not the people that use them, are cruddy.

whenever i comment on peoples exp forms that are recolors i encourage them to try drawing, which is constructive criticism.

Now if this topic is closed i am going to Baudelaire to have it reopened, because this is a valid topic and not a flame one.

Art isn't something you get good at overnight but it's very rewarding and fun!

Heh, I'm totally nuetral on recolors.

Drawings of experiments are awesome, for sure. But I've gotten so used to recolors that while I admit I disliked them at first, now...I really don't mind. They're pretty common, so mweh. Eventually the people will probably try drawing them, I figure.

I personally dont care about recolors. its the people who make it such a big issues which have me saying, if you rant about recolors then you have issues with your own artwork.
