The story of Myrtle's Ohana.
A Lilo & Stitch prequel story.
One day a man named Karl Edmonds walked into a real-estate office in Hawaii, hoping to find a new building to open his business. What he found was a woman with red hair and somewhat dorky glasses. He thought she was beautiful and started to chat with her.
"Think you could help me find the right property to start a store that sells Hawaiian sovenirs?" He asked. "Sure. My name is Nancy by the way." the woman said. "Hi, my name is Karl" he said.
Nancy drove Karl to the property she had in mind which was a small store front. They talked all the way there. Karl loved the property but was more interested in Nancy. He eventually asked her out and they started dating. After dating for about 6 months Karl preposed to Nancy. They had a happy marriage and Karl's business did well. Karl didn't like anyone who worked for him to be more creative than him. Whenever his employees did something he did not like he called them "weird" to discourage them.
A year after they were married Nancy gave Karl some exciting news "I'm pregnant" she said holding up a pregnancy test. "That's wonderful!" Karl said hugging her although he wasn't sure he wanted the responsibilty of an Ohana. Nine months later Nancy gave birth to a 7 pound baby girl. Karl thought of the sand on Myrtle beach when he saw the baby's face. "We will name her Myrtle" he said.
Nancy wasn't sure she liked the name but Karl wouldn't listen to her objections. He was listening to her less and less.
Myrtle grew into a healthy but very bossy and demanding little girl. Myrtle had red hair and glasses like her mother and the personality of her father. She loved to hang out at his store and observed his interactions with his employees. Myrtle idolized her father. Karl became more and more of a workaholic and spent less and less time with Myrtle and Nancy. Nancy and Karl started having constant fights over who was doing more for the family. Karl called Nancy many mean names. Myrtle took this in and believed calling people names was a good thing since she saw her father call nearly everyone names. Karl finally demanded a divorce. He was sick of family life. He didn't even fight for visitation rights over Myrtle. He just left Myrtle with Nancy and moved back to California, leaving his store in Hawaii in the care of his 2nd in command. He spent most of his time working at his other new store in California, only coming back about every 8 months to check on the store in Hawaii and see Myrtle for very, very short periods. Nancy went back to work as a real-estate agent.
Myrtle suddenly found her world completely upside down. She didn't know what to think. She didn't understand why her father left her. Didn't he love her? Myrtle felt completely abandoned and alone but didn't show this to anyone in school or hula class. Her father had once told her. "Never show your weaknesses or people will walk all over you". Myrtle was so good at faking it she made 3 friends named Yuki, Teresa, and Elena. She never even told her friends she had a father.
Another little girl in Myrtle's hula class named Lilo suddenly lost both her parents in a car accident. Myrtle saw the same loneliness in Lilo's eyes that she had felt after her parents divorced. Lilo had a broken family like her. Something about this frightened Myrtle. She didn't want the other girls in class to think she was like "Lilo the little orphan." so she chose to belittle Lilo and turn the other girls against her to seem stronger, to seem like the leader, like she had seen her father do. Somehow belittling Lilo also made Myrtle feel closer to her father.
Myrtle would never admit the truth out loud. She and Lilo were exactly alike. The only major difference is that Lilo eventually found support in her Ohana through Stitch, Jumba, and Pleakley but Myrtle was still all alone.
The end.
