Akemi felt the blood run down her arms and smiled, sobbing profusely. "End....end it all, please, please....."
Suki ran over and grabbed Akemi's hands, forcing her to stop hurting herself. She picked her up and put Akemi on her lap, hugging her and trying to comfort her. She held Akemi tightly, wondering how such a beautiful and interesting woman could be turned into something like this. "Shhh, shhh, Ake-chan. Don't say such things, love."

A single tear slipped out of Emiko's eye, knowing Akemi was pained and there was nothing she could do. A month ago, this would have been fine. She wouldn't have cared, Akemi would have been nothing to her... but now she knew. She knew who Akemi was, and why Lumi had payed (well, he was SUPPOSED to pay, but she hadn't seen a penny of the money yet) for her to make Akemi love him... she knew that Lumiere had caused Akemi to almost kill her... but it wasn't Lumiere's fault. He hadn't ASKED to be brought to Konoha. Someone had brought him here, someone who had been desperate for a job and knew she could find someone who... who would pay her...
*...so it's MY fault,* Emiko thought miserably. *I... I brought Lumi here... I caused this... for... for money... I'm a... a monster...*
Suddenly she could hold it in no longer, "F-Fuji...?" And then she cried out, unable to stop herself, "The clouds told me Lumi would do anything for you love so I brought him here cause I knew he'd want me to do a job for him since I needed money and I plot-twisted you two together and now it's my fault you're so miserable... I knocked you out and when you were sick in bed you were in MY house and I'm so, so sorry... I've done is caused pain. It's me who should die... not you..."

Akemi blinked, tears pouring out of her eyes. She silently stood up and, her eyes in shadow, walked over to Emiko and slapped her across the face. "You....you selfish....I HATE you." More tears poured out of her eyes and she ran out of the house, sobbing.

She wasn't the only one crying.
Emiko's face was a raging river. Akemi hadn't hurt her, really... the thing that had hurt her was that she knew it was true. Self-inflicted pain was the worst kind, and Emiko's mind kept telling her over and over and over "You're selfish... you're a monster... you're good for nothing... I hate you." Nothing Suki said could help. She would run upstairs to cry into her pillow, but LUMI was up there... she would run to her parents and cry into their shoulders, but they were both long dead... she had nothing... no one else...
...but, no, she DID have someone...
So with a little >crack< she disappeared...

Suki was now fighting to calm herself. She knew what she had to do. She ran all the way to Akemi's house and banged on the door. "Shikamaru Nara, you answer this door at ONCE!"

Akemi was running through the woods and hit a tree. Sobbing, she slid down and slumped against it. She took out a kunai and began to contemplate. "Dying would no doubt end this... but I'd never see Shika....or Suki....ever again." She dropped the knife and started to seriously think about the goods and bads of suicide.

Shikamaru Nara opened the door with a scowl, but his expression lifted when he saw it was Suki and not Akemi. "Yes, Su-chan? Would you like to come in? Have something to eat or something?"

With a little >crack< noise Emiko appeared in mid-air in front of Brian, startling him and making him fall back onto his fat @$$. "God, this pot is strong..."
"No, idiot, it's really me," hissed Emiko. She saw the cigarette in his hand and the lawn littered with them. "RA, HOW MANY DID YOU SMOKE?!"
"Uhhhh..."
"BLIAN-KUN! UGH!" Emiko sobbed and clung to Brian's shirt--which, in his case, would be his moobs. "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, BUT SOMETIMES YOU MAKE ME SO MAD... I... DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO..."
Taken aback, Brian said, "I'm no therapist..."
"Akemi's gonna commit suicide and it's all MY fault... I'm a s-selfish monster and I don't... I can't..."
And then Brian, even though he was high, suddenly did something he'd never done before. And even though he was high, his mind was clearer than it had ever been in his whole life. He knew what he wanted, and for once, he was going to get it...
...he kissed Emiko squarely on the lips...
...she whispered, "I don't deserve you..."
...and he replied, "I don't care if you do or if you don't, I love you anyway..."

Suki grabbed Shika by the collar and pulled him right in front of her face. "You really HURT Ake-chan. Do you know she was talking about suicide?! WELL?!" She cried, raising her voice as much as possible, "I know you never mean to hurt her, but only one sentance can hurt that woman so much..." She sighed and let go of Shikamaru, trying not to slap him just like Akemi slapped Emiko.

Akemi picked up the kunai. "I will." She began to cut her wrist, but threw the kunai into the forest. "No," she whimpered, hugging herself. She pulled her knees up to her chest and squeezed them as tight as she could. "Nobody loves me. Why should I love myself?!"

Shikamaru's eyes grew wide in fear. "Crazy as it may sound, things like this have happened before... but now, since Lumiere is here..." He shook his head, and demanded to Suki, "Take me to my wife. NOW. I need to see her, to stop her... before... it's too late..."

Brian pulled away, stunned. "N-no... I... I..."
"No what?" Emiko demanded, still sobbing furiously, if not harder now. "No you don't love me? No you just kissed me because you're high and stupid and I... I..."
"No, no," Brian said hurriedly, "no, as in... well... I didn't know I loved... you..."
"I've always loved you."
"How long?"
"F-four years..."
"Since we MET?!"
"E-ever since the d-day we met..."
"When I was engaged."
"W-when you were engaged. And I was innocent."
"Calm down, you haven't done anything. I love you."
But somehow this just made the tears flow harder. Emiko ran for it. She didn't understand these feelings and didn't care; it would be easy, once she was alone... there was no confusion with just herself for company...
But Brian felt more sure about his feelings than he had in years. "EMIKO!"
*A-all I do is cause p-pain... I can't be around Blian-kun... I love him... I couldn't stand it if I h-hurt him... I'm a monster... I hate you... I hate me... no...*
She ran until her jutsu kicked in accidentally, teleporting her somewhere she'd never been, but it was dark and quiet and she could sob in peace.
*I... I just... can't...*

Suki sighed. "I don't know where she is. She ran from Emiko and me." She looked at Shika and said, "You should be ashamed."

Akemi looked at the sky and a raindrop hit her cheek. She smiled melancholily and sobbed again. "Look, the sky is crying....just like me." She looked down and it soon started to pour, and a clap of thunder rumbled. "Is someone mad at me....or is it just not my day?" Akemi looked at her hands, which were scarred and bleeding. "I hate life."

Shika's eyes were dark, his expression one of grave seriousness. "There must be some way..." Lightening illumated his gaunt face as thunder clapped, and he and Suki were splattered with rain. "Some way..."

In the dark, it started pouring, torrents of cold water splashing Emiko's face and soiling her clothes, but she didn't care anymore. Lightning flashed and thunder clapped, but she didn't care... it didn't matter... she would die and it would do everyone a favor... she would have killed herself, then and there, but she was afraid. She was not afraid of death--but she was afraid of pain. Ever since she was six years old and a ruler had left a 6-inch-long gash on her hand when she'd picked it up by the metal end, she'd had a morbid fear of being stabbed. She couldn't kill herself, not now... she was too weak, and cowardly... so she would just lie here waiting for death, then... she wasn't afraid...
"EMIKO!"
Another flash of lightning, followed by more thunder. Her head jerked up in fear. That was BLIAN'S voice. She didn't care if she died out here, but if Brian got struck by lightening... but no, she had never REALLY considered dying. She was a ninja, and lightening probably wouldn't have hurt her, but if it hit Brian, he would die, no doubt about that... so she forgot everything about dying alone, and focused all her energy on saving the only boy who'd ever muttered "I love you" in her ear...
"BLIAN-KUN?"

Suki looked at him. "I'm not sure. We could use a tracking jutsu or something." She was sickened by Shikamaru, but he cared about Akemi, no matter how much he pained her. "Do you care about her?" She asked, searching his face.

Akemi got out another kunai. "Why is life so hard...?"

"Of COURSE I do," said Shika impatiently. "Why else would I have MARRIED her? Suki, I don't have time for you to question me about whether I love her or not; WE NEED TO SAVE AKEMI, NOW."

"EMIKO?!"
"BLIAN!" Emiko ran sobbing into his arms. "I... I just..."
"What... why were you out in the woods?" Brian choked.
"I wanted to kill myself," said Emiko matter-of-factly, "but now I don't. And, oh, we have to save Akemi; she wants to kill herself too."
"WHAT?!"
"I have to do something. After all, it's my fault... all my fault."
"Like a book," Brian muttered.
"What's that?"
"I said like a book. Our lives are like a book, the plot twisting and thickening and--"
"BRIAN! HOMG I EFFIN' LOVE YOU!" Emiko gave him a kiss, but it was short-lived. She pulled away almost instantly, saying, "Why didn't I think of it EARLIER?"
"Think of WHAT earlier?" asked Brian blankly.
"Plot twists!" And before Brian could ask, Emiko disappeared with another >crack<...
...and reappeared, right next to Akemi.

Akemi saw Emiko and glowered at her maliciously. "What do you want." She picked up the kunai once more and began to cut herself on the arms. "Go away."

Suki sighed and performed the jutsu, finding Akemi immediately. "Come on, I found her," she beckoned, starting to walk off.

Shika followed Suki at a run, desperate to reach his wife before... before Akemi reached herself...
"I... I came to apologize." Emiko winced and sncatched the kunai out of Akemi's hand. "First of all, when you're mad at me and Shika and Lumi, don't take it out on yourself, and second, don't cut yourself in front of someone who has a mortal fear of being stabbed. Now, if you have any more kunais, I suggest you take them out and throw them into the woods--no, that wouldn't do, you might kill some poor deer... um... just give them to me, then." She took a deep breath, and said, "Okay, Akemi, here's the deal: I know I brought Lumi here, but bringing him here was everything I did. Okay, I brought myself to Konoha so I wouldn't have to pay for a plain ticket... and I poofed Brian and Christmas Eve here... and I caused a time-skip once... but that didn't hurt anyone! Anything you feel for Lumiere and Shikamaru is all you; I promise I didn't do anything. Really. Swear to Ra and fluffy music teachers." She held up a hand in solemn promise. "But Shika cares about you! Suki wento get him, I think; the two of them should be here any minute! And Lumiere... he... he doesn't know you're here, but if he did, he'd be here! Everyone loves you, and killing yourself would just cause them pain!" *Jesus, how can she want to commit suicide because boys are fighting over her? I've always had to fight myself, even to get my hands on ONE boy... some people have it all...*
