"Hey, wait a sec!" Suki ran after the man. "I worked for two years on this story, and I think you should read it! Give it a try." She shoved the folder into his chest. "I came here all the way from Japan, and I'm not stopping and re-thinking my dream now!" She stood fast in front of the man, blocking his way.

The man looked very startled at her determination, but his expression of surprise was quickly replaced with one of annoyance. "Now, little girl, please see reason... I do not have to read your mauscript right now and, quite frankly, at your age, with only two years of work on it? I doubt it's much better than some of the things my six-year-old daughter brings home from school. Now good DAY, I really MUST go!" He made to shove her aside, mistaking Suki for a weak, timid individual...

Suki quickly blocked his arm. "I don't think so, sir," she said, fire in her eyes. "It's only for now. Just like, for everything else, you have time. We all do. Now, I think that either your six-year-old is a genius, or you have no idea what you're dealing with." Her eyes flashed and her kind face turned into a willfull, frustrated frown. "I will NOT be rejected. Sir, I am highly capable of physically overpowering you. And I am NOT going to step down and let you walk away. My whole life has been dedicated to writing and this is my best work yet."

The man's brow furrowed, and though he'd never admit it he seemed to realize he'd been defeated. "All... all right." He snatched her folder and eyed it critically. "I will look over it when I get the chance, but I cannot garauntee anything. Happy now? Anything else you'd like?" he asked sarcastically. "Now, Mrs.... Hagasana?... I really must be going or I will miss my train, good-BYE!" And he hurried off onto the subway train without another word.

"Oh, well, HE'S certainly a pleasant New Yorker," Suki huffed. "Why I oughta..." She rolled up her sleeves, but shrugged. "Oh, whatever. Ugh, I gotta go to NYU now, to get an application. Coming, Ito?"

"Yes, I suppose," said Ito. He gestured towards the wall he'd nearly crashed into a moment earlier. "I was talking with the wall, you see. He made very good conversation, but I think he might be mad at me now. I insulted his father by accident, see. Oh well, let's go." He paused, and then added suddenly, "That man you were talking to? The wall, he says you shouldn't trust him." And he then walked off after her in polite silence.

Suki looked ahead. "O-okay," she said softly, going down into the subway platform again. She went up to the ticket seller and asked, "Um, pardon me, but could you tell me where NYU college is?"
