"The KITCHEN?!" Mokona jumped up dramatically from Fay's lap and hopped over to land on Knuckles's head. "Mokona is sooooo hungry! Mokona wants to find the kitchen too!"
Fay smiled apologetically. "Yes, very much so. You have a lovely little country."

"I'm glad you're having a good time. The kitchen must be over there. It's the only place that I haven't looked yet."

"Mokona and everyone will go with you!" Mokona replied, before anyone else could speak. "Mokona is starving!"
"Well, let's go then." Fay stood up as if Mokona had settled the manner. He smiled ruefully at Kurogane and joined Knuckles at his side. Syaoran and Sakura hurried to follow, Kurogane reluctantly taking up the rear. "If you don't mind, that is. Knuckles-san, was it?"

Sonic opened his eyes slowly and rubbed his head. "I'll tell her the next time I see her. I promise." He got up and went to his room to plan out the next day.

"Ooh, the kitchen is so big! Mokona is SO happy!" Mokona leapt to the fridge and started rummaging around before the others could stop him. "What is in here? Mokona will see, yes!"
Fay smiled apologetically at Knuckles once more. "I'm sorry about Mokona... he's a little overenthusiastic sometimes," he said with a laugh.

"AHHHHHH The Commander will explode when he sees the state of his government funded kitchen!" He ran over to grab Mokona, but the little pork bun was too quick for him, leaping onto a shelf with pots and pans, knocking them over. Knuckles attempted to grab all oaf them, but instead ended up in a heap of kitchenware with a soup pot on his head.

"Moko-chan!" Sakura reprimanded, hurrying forward to grab the little white pork bun in her arms. "You can't do that!"
Mokona stopped abruptly and hung his ears. "But... Mokona was hungry." He hopped onto Sakura's head with a sigh.
Fay stepped forward to restore the fridge, and Syaoran started on the various pots and pans on the floor. With a stern look from Fay, Kurogane, grumbling, reluctantly started to help as well. Sakura approached Syaoran with good intentions, but he waved her away.
"I'm fine cleaning this up by myself, Princess. You just look after Mokona."
"Okay... Syaoran-kun."

Knuckles shook his head to regain his bearings. He glared at the white pork bun on Sakura's head. He leaped up and grumbled. He went over to the refrigerator and removed the food of his choice CAREFULLY. He then walked over to the table and sat down to eat.
SONIC's ROOM There was a knock at the door. "Coming." Sonic was at the door in a flash. (literally) Behind the door was none other than Amy Rose.
"Sonic, I have something very important to talk about with you."
"Sure, come inside and sit down." Amy sat down in a chair next to the window.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Sonic asked as he closed the door.
"You're wrong Sonic."
"About what?"
"I don't care about whether or not you save my life, or whether you're a hero, or anything except that you're you. That's why I chased you, and that's why I'm going to stop chasing you, for better or worse, depending on your response." Amy paused and then added quietly. "Because I love you."
Sonic was silent. (his mouth, but definitely not his mind)

Mokona watched Knuckles with a frown. All of his exploits were just games; he didn't actually want to hurt anyone. "Mokona is so sorry if Mokona caused Knuckles any trouble!" he squeaked, leaping from Sakura's head to the table in one bound. "Can Mokona have some of your food now?"
Sakura rolled her eyes. "So that's Moko-chan's game."

Knuckles sighed. "Alright. I forgive you. Here." He handed over some of his meal to the now smiling creature.
BACK WITH SONIC (Because that's where everything interesting is happening anyways)
Sonic's mind was going back and forth between two tangents. Tails was right. That's not important! TELL HER! Tails... knew. He sat this whole thing up. TELL HER!! He must have had help... TELL HER!!! Cream possibly? TELL HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "ALL RIGHT! ALL RIGHT! JUST BE QUIET!
"Sonic, who are you talking to?
"Myself, my mind. It's really not important. The important thing is that I love you too, which was really a lot easier to say than it would have been if you hadn't said anything before. Did you know that--"
"YES!!!!!!" Two voices belonging to neither of the hedgehogs caused them to turn to the couch where the had originated from. Tails and Cream, who had been hiding there all along, were now standing up behind the couch. "Mission accomplished." Tails laughed as he gave Cream a high five.
"I KNEW IT! You set this up." Sonic Pointed accusingly at Tails.
"Yeah.... and?" Sonic paused.
"Thanks."
"We're leaving now." Cream said. "Good luck." The two of them left the room laughing.

"THANK YOU, KNUCKLES!" Mokona grinned and wolfed down the foot. The gang joined Knuckles at the table, and Mokona hurried to his usual place on top of Fay's head.
"So, what's the plan for the rest of the day?" asked Fay casually.
((YAY CONFESSIONS))

Sonic turned and looked at Amy. "That went well."
"Yeah. It did." There was a slight pause before Amy jumped out of her chair and practically tackled Sonic, but ended up just hugging him instead.

Sakura drummed her fingers on the table as the adults made small talk, and it wasn't long before she let out a long, low yawn. She covered her mouth at once with a hand, hoping no one would notice, but of course, the ever-knowing Syaoran did.
"You're exhausted," Syaoran observed. "You should turn in."
"N-no!" Sakura cried dramatically, her voice shrill, pulling her arm away from her mouth and jerking it to rest on the table's surface. "I'm fine... really... I don't want to miss... anything!"
"Sakura-hime..." Syaoran reached for her arm and set it gently down by her side. "You don't have all your memories back yet. You still don't have as much energy as you used to."
Sleep was clouding Sakura's consciousness, thick and compelling. She forced herself to keep her eyes open. "How many feathers... do you think... there are... left," she mumbled.
"I don't know, but it can't be very many," Syaoran said matter-of-factly. He noticed her fatigue easily, and automatically reached out his arms to steady her when she fell. "You have most of your memories, and I suppose the last feather will hold a whole lot. After I find the last one, I predict you'll feel as good as new."
"Then... what," Sakura asked, her words garbled by exhaustion.
"Then Mokona will take us through worlds until we arrive back in Clow," Syaoran explained patiently. "And you can go home."
Home.
Would Syaoran have to go home too? How would he explain it to Sakura, that he lived so close to her, that he hadn't said a word on the subject?
With her last feather back, would the contract still be intact? Would she still never remember him, no matter what he said to her?
"Oh," Sakura whispered, letting herself drift into Syaoran's chest as her eyes started to close. "But... I don't want that."
Syaoran was surprised by this remark. "Why not, Princess? Don't you miss King Toya and the High Priest? Don't you miss your home?"
"I do," Sakura explained. It was important that he understood this. "But... when I go home... so will you and Fay-san and Kurogane-san. I don't want..."
Her eyes were fully closed now.
"...to be apart from you."
Syaoran gave Sakura a little squeeze, but she was already into a deep slumber. When no one was looking, he leaned down into her ear and whispered, "I don't want to be apart from you either, Sakura."

Sonic suddenly picked Amy up smiled and said "Let's run" Amy smiled back. "Let's" Sonic jumped through the window and zoomed off in no particular direction. When he finally stopped and set Amy down, they were in a clearing, with a clear night sky above them. "Wow, this place is amazing. Have you been here before?" Amy asked while still entranced by the stars.
"The wind's never taken me here before."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, if you're running fast enough, I can sort of feel where the wind is going, and you can follow it. Actually, I'm not quite sure how it works." (This will play a MAJOR role later on in the story)
"So your speed lets you follow the wind?"
"Not exactly, I'm not even sure why I can run so fast, but it might be related to my wind sensitivity, since Shadow told me that he can't feel where the wind goes, so it's just me I guess." He looked up. "Wow! Look at all the stars!"
"Sonic?"
"Yeah?"
"What did you see that was more beautiful than that little clearing?"
"Well I was referring to you, actually. I didn't know it at the time though." He didn't have time to say anything else, because Amy was kissing him. When she pulled away, he stared at her.
"What was that for?"
"Do I really need a reason?"
"No, I was just wondering if there was one. We should go back now, we can return tomorrow if you like."
"Alright." He picked her up again, and they zoomed off.

Syaoran silently tiptoed into the main room and laid Sakura down in a pile of all the blankets he could find. He rested his coat on top of her as a final touch, a personal touch, more so that she could have a trace of him while she slept than for warmth. Syaoran knew it must sound creepy, but he had always loved watching Sakura in her sleep. The way her chest moved in and out, the way her eyelids fluttered slightly open and closed, the way her short-cropped hair sprawled across the pillow. It was good that he enjoyed this phenomenon so much. Lately, he'd been spending more time with Sakura asleep than awake.
But that'll all change soon, Syaoran reminded himself with a frown. I'll find her last feather, and then she'll wake up for good this time.
And then... she'll go home.
With a sickening feeling in his stomach, Syaoran left the room. He would have liked to have a last glimpse, a last viewing of his favorite sight before it was gone for good, but... he didn't want to get too attached. When Sakura awoke with all her memories, he would no longer have an excuse to always by her side. Then, she could do whatever she wished without him as a burden like he'd always been... she could go out on the town... find a nice prince... have a beautiful, expensive wedding as far away from Clow's ruins as possible...
He shuddered at the thought, but it was better this way.
