Mokona Modoki opened its mouth wide as long, white wings sprouted from its sides. A loud, sucking noise bellowed from inside it, and the four world-travelers were pulled inside with one final goodbye. Mokona's transport was a success, and they landed softly on the grass.
"I wonder what kind of world we've come to now," said Fay D. Fluorite, the lone magician of the group. He was tall and thin, with long blonde hair and twinkling blue eyes. He was limber and flexible as he moved, giving one the impression of dancing even when he stood still.
"I hope it's not as much a pain as the last one," muttered Kurogane, a ninja. He was large and muscled with short, black hair and deep red eyes. He looked like he could take on anything and win without a struggle.
"Oh, don't say that, Kurogane-san," said Syaoran. "I thought it was kind of fun." He was younger than the other two, with spiky brown hair and matching brown eyes. He was small but strong. He turned to the girl next to him as he asked, "What do you think, Sakura-hime?" ((-hime = the suffix meaning "princess," so Sakura-hime = Princess Sakura))
Princess Sakura rubbed her eyes sleepily with the back of one hand. She was around Syaoran's age, with slightly lighter brown hair and bright green eyes. She was tired now, but was generally a spirited, cheerful teenage girl. "I thought the people were really nice, Syaoran-kun, but the country itself wasn't very pleasant."
"That's true!" announced Mokona Modoki brightly. "Mokona thinks the weather in that country was terrible!" It was a small, white, pork-bun shaped creature, with long ears and one red earring. Its eyes were perpetually closed, only opening when it went "boink" and sensed one of Sakura's feathers. "But Mokona hopes that this country will be much nicer!" ((Mokona always speaks in third person. xD Also, Mokona has no gender, so when I refer to it, I mean Mokona.))

The calm of the barren desert was broken by a streak of blue whooshing by. Sonic the Hedgehog, who happened to be the blue object in question, accelerated on an open stretch of land. A loud boom sounded as he broke through the sound barrier. He ran to the edge of a cliff and jumped forwards, still moving at mack speeds. "YAHOOO!" Sonic landed on a metal railing that was meant for a monorail and started to grind across it. (He has really special shoes that let him grind on rails and they don't burn up with friction) The rail went all the way down to the ground where Sonic jumped onto the platform and sped off to Station Square.

The five companions set off for town in the hopes of learning more about this new world. As they approached Station Square, Mokona leapt inside Kurogane's cloak (to his great annoyance, I might add) in case the people of this world would be unfamiliar with creatures of Mokona's sort. They still hadn't seen any people yet in this world, and thus had no idea who the inhabitants were, or how they would react to the travelers and their clothing. With Syaoran leading the way, they walked blindly into the square. "Soooonic!"
"Huh?" Sonic turned around to see a pink hedgehog running towards him.
"There you are Sonic! I knew I'd find you eventually!"
"Amy..."
"Come on! There's no way you're getting out of me taking you to Twinkle Park (an amusement park. According to a sign outside the entrance, "Cute couples get in free") this time Sonikku!"
Sonic sighed. "Actually, I promised Tails I would meet him here, and besides, it's Saturday, Twinkle park is really crowded and the lines are extra long."
"But it's--"
"Bye Amy, see you 'round." Sonic sped off as Amy finished her sentence.
"--Thursday. GRRRRRR! That Sonic always runs off while I'm talking, plus he always leaves me out of the fights with Eggman. I'll show him that I can fight just as well as everyone else." With that, she stormed off in an undecided direction.
NOTE: The way Amy acts in this story so far is pretty much how she acts in the games. This is because the developers never bother to give anybody except shadow any character development. Don't worry though, I'll give everyone some character development... Once I think of what that should be for each character. Also, Sonikku is "Sonic" in japanese, which makes sense, considering Sonic was invented in Japan...

As they walked along, Syaoran muttered under his breath to the white pork bun near Kurogane's chest as inconspicuously as he could. "Mokona, do you sense one of Sakura-hime's feathers in this world?"
"Yeah," Mokona whispered in reply. "It's very faint, but Mokona definitely feels the power of a feather in this country!"
"Thank you." Syaoran then turned to Sakura with a smile. "How are you fairing, Princess?"
"G-good..." Sakura gave him a weary grin in reply. Syaoran knew from experience, though she would never admit it, that it wouldn't be much longer before Sakura collapsed into slumber. Without all of her feathers back, Sakura still didn't have very much strength. He walked close to her so he could catch her when she fell.

Sonic screeched to a halt right next to a two tailed fox. "Hey Tails, long time no see." (He says that to tails in just about every game.)
"Hey Sonic! I'm glad you got here now, you're just in time to see the unveiling of the Tornado Three! (The Tornado is Sonic's plane, the Tornado Two is Tails' plane with a secondary combat mode, but the combat mode has no landing gear.) It's at my workshop, so you can run us there."
"Okay, hold on tight."
Tails hovered in the air and grabbed on to his friend's shoulder. A few seconds later, they arrived at the Mystic Ruins and subsequently, at Tails' workshop. The fox hurried inside an a few moments later, the hanger opened up and a plane taxied onto the runway. (Tails is 8, he has an IQ of 300 and he can build pretty much anything.) "I present to you, the Tornado Three! It has all the features of the Tornado Two, plus I added the Cyclone waker mode and landing gear for the combat mode."
"Can we take it for a spin?"
"Sure thing! Hop on!"
Sonic jumped onto the area behind the driver's seat and grabbed the provided handlebars. The plane took of and soon they were flying aimlessly through the sky.

The first thing the gang noticed when they got to the square was the fact that there were construction workers rebuilding many severely damaged buildings. It looked as if the place had been destroyed but was now being redone from scratch, and all of the people here were very hard at work doing just that. Mokona peered curiously out from under Kurogane's cloak. Syaoran watched with great interest, being extremely curious about anything pertaining to old buildings that could be some kind of historical artifact.
Fay picked out a worker at random and approached them carefully. "Hello," he said in a friendly voice. "My friends and I are travelers... could you by any chance tell me the name of the country we're in?"

"Your in the United Federation, and this is Station Square. Sorry about all the construction, the city was destroyed in a disaster and we were recently given funds for rebuilding. You should take the train to Central City, you can find any travel information you need there. Train leave about every fifteen minutes."
MEANWHILE
"Ms. Amy! Why are you sad today?" Cream the Rabbit (who always puts Mr. or Ms. or Mrs. or... you get the idea, before people's names) was always looking out for her older sister, even if she really wasn't her sister and Cream just liked to say that she was.
"Sonic ran off again today. I can't believe it. I always compliment him, so why does he always leave?" Amy wasn't really expecting an answer but Cream didn't know that.
"Well,maybe Mr. Sonic thinks that you only care about him because he saves your life sometimes, and not because he's a nice person." (You know how little kids know everything? Yeah.)
"What?" Amy was shocked. "How did you even grasp that concept?"
"I just notice things. By the way, what's a concept?"
"Never mind. Maybe you're right. But how Am I going to prove that... I've got it!" Amy ran off, another plan to execute would take up a lot of time.
NOTE: I have no idea what her plan is. If I did, she would have explained it.

"Thank you," Fay turned back to his companions with a smile. "Well, it looks like we're going to Central City, gang."
Syaoran nodded. "Hai."
AFTER THE TRAIN RIDE
The foursome (five if you count Mokona) wobbled off into the train station. "Those were nothing like the flying trains in the country of Recort," Sakura remarked. She was feeling a lot more cheery now, having slept in Syaoran's lap on the train ride. When she'd woken up, she'd blushed furiously and scootched to the side, but in her heart she had felt warm and peaceful. She always did when he was around. She always felt like Syaoran would be able to protect her, no matter what came there way.
They walked out into the city together, taking in the sights and looking for a place to get information.

Cream pulled out walkie talkie. "Tails, I talked to Amy, now you have to convince Sonic to go along with our plan." (Gee, I wonder what it could be.)
"Got it." Tails whispered.
Hey Sonic, you run away from Amy because you're afraid she only cares about you because you save her life, right?"
Sonic almost fell off the plane.
"What!? I never said that!"
"You're wrong though, she really does care about you."
"Shouldn't you be paying attention to the runway?"
Tails landed the plane at Central City airport and taxied into another private hangar.
"Thanks Tails. I hope you're right." Sonic ran off before the fox had processed the words.
NOTE: Yes, Cream and Tails are in fact, matchmaking. Will shenanigans ensue? Why not?!

They stopped at a booth labeled "information" and peered over the counter at the person inside it. Fay smiled jovially and once again did the talking. "Hello. We're travelers and don't know anything about this country, so we're definitely looking for some information. I'm Fay, this is Syaoran-kun and Sakura-chan and Kuro-puu--"
"THAT'S KUROGANE!" Kuro screeched angrily, clenching fists and moving forward so rapidly that Mokona let out a squeak of surprise.
Fay thought he saw the the information person looking at Kurogane's cloak strangely, so he pressed on and cleared his throat dramatically. "Anyway, yes, don't pay any attention to Kuro-sama. He can be a little strange sometimes. So, is there anything we need to know about this country that you could help us with? Like where we can get local clothing, and the money here, and..."

Sonic stopped right next to the information booth. "There's a mall right around the corner, and you can exchange your currency for rings right here at the information station. I'm Sonic by the way, Sonic the Hedgehog. Consider this your official welcome package." He grabbed a selection of items from the info counter. "Here's a public transportation booklet, with train and bus schedules maps and stuff. Here's a tour booklet with way past cool tourist attractions and here's a coupon collection that has coupons for just about everything."

The gang stepped back in shock at the brightly-colored hedgehog talking to them so matter-of-factly. They had seen this once before, in the country with Whirlwind-san where all the inhabitants had been rabbits, but it was still hard to get used to. Mokona crawled from out of Kurogane's cloak to perch on top of Syaoran's head, now knowing that it wouldn't be stared at.
"Hi! Mokona is Mokona!" it announced happily. "Mokona would like to thank Sonic for everything! This is Fay and Kurogane and Syaoran and Sakura! And of course, MOKONA!"
Sakura smiled in a friendly sort of way. "Yes, thank you so much, Sonic-san."
Syaoran gave a nod.

"Don't mention it." Sonic looked quizzically at the self labeled Mokona, blinked a few times and shook his head. "Well if there's anything I can help you with, just let me know. Oh, you wouldn't have happened to see another hedgehog who looks nothing like me, but everyone says he does, have you?"

The group blinked as well. Syaoran coughed. "No, Sonic-san, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we haven't."
"Actually, we haven't ever seen anything like you before," Fay supplied politely. "As I was telling the man behind the information booth, we've come from a long ways away. Where we come from, there aren't any other... hedgehogs, do you call them?"
"We got hedgehogs in Nihon," Kurogane said bluntly, "but they're brown and a lot smaller than you. Also, they don't talk."
((Nihon is where Kurogane came from. "Nihon" is what Japanese people call Japan. Fay is from Ceresu, for the record, and Syaoran and Sakura are from the Kingdom of Clow.))
