Sonic leaped into the air and executed a flying kick. The shock wave from the impact on the ground created an open area long enough for Sonic to start running in circles. Soon, a mini tornado was created, sucking in all of the robots and smashing them against each other. When the blue blur finally stopped, the room was devoid of enemies.

Syaoran stood and stared in awe long after the debris had cleared. "Wow, Sonic-san..." He had long searched for new fighting styles to make himself more powerful, but Sonic was using a technique completely foreign to him. One look at Kurogane's face told him that the ninja had never seen anything like it either. Sonic certainly lived up to his name when it came to speed. "That was incredible! You're a really great fighter! I wish I could be as strong as you are!"

"Heheh, thanks. I'm sure you'll get better as you practice. I-WAAAAAA" Sonic was being dragged away... by Amy... again. They ended up in a hallway. "What was that all about?" snapped Sonic as he dusted himself off. "If you wanted to talk to me you could have asked."
"I want your honest opinion about me Sonic, right now."
Sonic hesitated.
"I care about you Amy, you're a great person to be around and I trust you with my life. The only thing that would improve my opinion of you would be for you to stop acting so crazy, or to not drag me around. Who knows? You might get what you want by not asking." Sonic sped off to tell the rest of the group that the coast was clear, leaving behind a speechless pink hedgehog.

"What the hell was that all about?" muttered Kurogane grumpily, once Sonic and Amy were gone.
Syaoran, however, was instantly reminded of Sakura. How every time he came back from an excavation, she'd used to pounce on him and make sure he was okay. Even now, when he came back from finding a feather, she was always there to congratulate him and worry over his wounds. Sonic and Amy seemed like such a natural couple, and he supposed that even though she was a Princess and him a commoner, he and Sakura had once seemed that way to outsiders. Without her memories of him, would their relationship ever be able to regain that magic? How could it, when she liked him as a casual friend and the words "I love you" burned on his lips every time he thought her name?

Sonic "walked" to the group, followed shortly by Amy. "Everyone, this is Amy, in case you haven't met her yet."

"Nice to meet you, Amy-san." Syaoran smiled. He would have held out his hand, but he had no idea if it was customary for hedgehogs to shake hands upon greeting. He would have asked Kurogane, but he didn't want to be rude in front of Amy and Sonic. Plus, if hedgehogs didn't speak in Nihon, their customs probably weren't the same either. "I'm Syaoran, and this is Kurogane-san. We're travelers."
Kurogane grunted something that sounded sort of like, "Nicetameetchahedgehoggirl."
"So, how do you know Sonic-san, Amy-san?" Syaoran asked amiably. "Are you related to him, or are you his girlfriend?"

Sonic, who had been looking down the hall, whirled around at the same time as Amy began to blush and look at the floor.
"I.. I'm his friend, and I've known him for a long time. He saves my life a lot." Sonic was very uncomfortable in his current situation.

Syaoran blushed slightly. Didn't that describe exactly Sakura's feelings about him? He saved her feathers, her life... they were friends... and she'd known him since they were little... even if she didn't know it at the time... "Okay, I see. I'm sorry I misjudged you two, Amy-san."

Syaoran's thoughts snapped back to the task at hand and Sakura's feather. He needed to do this! He had promised he would find every one of Sakura's feathers, and that was a promise he would keep! "Hai, let's go," Syaoran said determinedly.
Kurogane nodded and sheathed his sword. "Let's."

As soon as this was said however, a robotic arm grabbed the Chaos Emerald out of Sonic's hand. "BWAHAHA! Now I have all seven Chaos Emeralds, and nothing can stop me!" Said a voice over a loudspeaker system.
"Eggman! Shoot, this won't be as easy as I thought. All right, the first thing we need to do is-" He never finished his sentence, because at that moment, they were caught amidst missiles, bombs, and bullets, followed soon after by a huge explosion that destroyed the base.

Syaoran gasped. Suddenly all his hopes of finding Sakura's feather easily were dashed. Kurogane was flailing, trying in vain to destroy the ammo before it reached them. Syaoran closed his eyes, accepting his fate. He was going to die, wasn't he; he was going to fail Sakura; he wouldn't be able to find the rest of her feathers for her...
NO!
He had to find Sakura's feathers. And he wasn't going to die.
No matter what it took.
But suddenly he found himself in Station Square.

Sonic breathed a sigh of relief as he stopped running in circles around Amy. "Thanks Shadow."
"That's two you owe me now. Why were you running in circles around Amy?"
"To protect her, Even if we had still been inside, I would have been a barrier from the weapons, and I would have jumped on top of her when the base exploded."
"Why?"
Sonic realized that he had backed himself into a corner.
"If it had been Tails, I would have done the same thing."
Shadow grinned.
"Nice dodge, I'll get you next time." He skated off, leaving an annoyed Sonic and a confused rest of group.
Turning around to find his new friends staring at him, he quickly regained his composure. "A natural conversationalist, don't you think?"

Syaoran was slightly confused by Sonic's words, but he knew exactly what Shadow had meant. A little smile played on his lips. "Yes. Very, Sonic-san."
"I guess," grunted Kurogane moodily. He swung his body to face Sonic, twirling his sword absently between his fingertips. "So, Hedgehog, what do we do now?"

"Now we.... we..... go to find Tails so we can start the emergency comm--" Just then, a siren started wailing and people ran inside buildings. "That's the air raid siren, but there aren't any airships except for the Egg Carrier, and It's way too slow to be here already. Unless..." An explosion was heard from across the city. "He used the Emeralds to warp the Egg Carrier here!" Sonic dashed over to a console that had appeared out of the ground on a hidden elevator. He punched a series of buttons, and a number of antiaircraft turrets popped out of skyscrapers. At the same time, Eggman's massive airship appeared, cannons blazing. Sonic whirled around. "We need to evacuate this area to GUN headquarters, the turrets should give us enough time. You, ninja. Go to the top of that building and make sure no robots land on top of it. Now!"
