EGG CARRIER
"At last, I will be able to achieve complete world domination with my new super weapon, which focuses the power of this feather through the Chaos Emeralds, creating an ultra powerful energy beam. HAHAHAHAHA! Fire at our first target."
"Yes Dr. Eggman." Came the robotic reply. A bright light appeared at the front of the Egg Carrier and a beam fired across the sky, straight into the heart of central city, causing a massive explosion.
"Soon, the world will be mine. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" (It's so much fun to write his evil laugh, because you get to bang on two keys over and over. XD)

Syaoran walked down the long hallway to try and find his way back into the kitchen. He needed to gather Kurogane and start up the search again for Sakura's feather. They were wasting far too much time here... He stopped dead upon entering the living room, however, with a smirk resting on his face.
Sonic and Amy were asleep on the couch.
Together.
"I always knew they loved each other," Syaoran whispered to himself, an amused smile playing at his lips as he brushed past. "I'm so glad one of them finally confessed." He was happy for the new couple, of course, but even as he spoke he felt a sharp pang jerking at his heart. Confess... he had to confess to Sakura, didn't he?
What would she say? There was no way he could not tell her, not with how eager he was to see Sonic and Amy together. That would make him a hypocrite. But somehow he knew that his and Sakura's relationship wouldn't turn out as well as the two hedgehogs' had. Sakura was a princess. What was he? Barely a commoner?
He was nothing.
His confession would be exactly like Sonic's, with one small difference. When Syaoran told Sakura of his undying love, she wouldn't be able to say she returned the feeling.

Sonic opened his eyes slowly. "Huh?" He then noticed that his arm was wrapped around Amy, who was still asleep. He sat up and stretched. Amy woke up at that point.
"Good morning Amy. You know, I had he strangest dream last nigh-" He was cut off (again) by Amy kissing him.
"Ok, so maybe I didn't have the strongest dream last night. How convenient." Just then, a soldier rushed in.
"Mr. Hedgehog, the commander needs you in the central tactics station right away. Eggman blew up a large section of Central City with a new super weapon, and we need to determine his next target."
"I'll be right there." The soldier left.
"Come on, are you coming or not?" He asked Amy.
Once they were in the tactical center, the commander turned and faced them.
"What's she doing here?"
"If you want to talk to me, she stays."
"Very well. As you are no doubt aware, Eggman has created a new super weapon. We believe that this weapon functions by channeling the energy of the Chaos Emeralds through some other artifact of great power. I have my specialists working on determining the identity of this artifact-"
"It's a feather. A magical feather, and I think he will target this building next. Fortunately, we still have the Master Emerald, which we can use to negate the energy of the Chaos Emeralds." (The Master Emerald can control the Chaos Emeralds.)
"Excellent. It will take time for Eggman to recharge his weapon, so between shots, we will be able to make strategic strikes-
"-against important targets."
"Exactly. Now, go. Before you finish anymore sentences-"
"-that aren't mine, I know." Sonic sped off with Amy in tow, leaving the commander in an annoyed state.

Syaoran fled into the main room to find Kurogane sitting on the floor with a sulky expression, while Fay was stretched out on the couch staring at the ceiling. Mokona leapt up, grinning at the sight of Syaoran's entrance. Kurogane and Fay also swiveled their heads to greet him. The room seemed to be in a sluggish state, and Syaoran's hurry was quite out-of-place.
"Good morning, Syaoran-kun," Fay said lazily, lifting an arm slowly to wave.
"Hi, Syaoran!" Mokona happily hopped across the room and settled himself on top of the boy's head with a smile.
"G'mornin', kid," grumbled Kurogane grudgingly.
"Good morning, Fay-san, Kurogane-san, Mokona." Syaoran looked up at the white pork bun on his head and couldn't help letting out a little laugh of glee. Mokona sure was a funny creature.
"Is the Princess up yet?" Kurogane grunted.
Syaoran shook his head. "Sakura-hime is still asleep. It's probably better this way. When we leave to go and fight the Eggman and get her feather back, she won't be able to complain that we're leaving her behind."
Fay chuckled darkly, his eyes on the ceiling once more. "Syaoran-kun, Sakura-chan isn't upset that she's being left behind. She's sad because she worries that you might hurt yourself."
"Because if I hurt myself, she won't get her feather back," Syaoran supplied.
If Mokona could have shaken its head, it would have. Unfortunately, its head and body are one and the same, so it had to settle for turning in a circle and frowning deeply. "No, no! That's not why at all! Sakura is sad because if Syaoran gets hurt, Syaoran is in pain! Sakura doesn't want to lose Syaoran or for Syaoran to be in pain! Sakura cares about Syaoran! Just like Mokona and Kurogane and Fay do!"
Syaoran reached up a hand to pat Mokona on the head. His heart was racing. Hadn't Mokona been with Sakura the last time he'd left to find her feather, so it would know exactly how she felt? But... her "caring" for him couldn't be as deep as the way he felt about her, could it? Mokona had said "just like Mokona and Kurogane and Fay do." None of them loved him romantically, so that meant Sakura didn't either, right?
"Syaoran-kun, you look so deep in thought," Fay remarked. "It doesn't suit you. Smile!"
Kurogane groaned. "Mage... some of us actually think about things every once in a while instead of just being happy."
Fay grinned. "I know. But that's your job, Kuro-myu, not Syaoran-kun's. His job is to make Sakura-chan happy by being happy himself!"

Sonic and Amy ran into the room where they saw the others sitting around, talking. "I suppose you already know what happened, and what we need to do, so we should start planning."
(This is where Syaoran should start making fun of them)

Syaoran turned around, his concern about Sakura and his relationship distracted by the knowledge of Sonic and Amy's. He smirked and stared at them with a knowing glint in his eye. "Oh, don't worry, I know what happened."
"You mean about the Eggman?" asked Kurogane impatiently. "Yeah, yeah, we know about that."
"No, actually, that's not what I meant," said Syaoran slyly. "The hedgehog-sans know what I'm talking about... or should I say lovebird-sans?"

"WHAT?! I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about!" Sonic and Amy declared simultaneously. Just then, Tails and Knuckles walked in.
"I'm telling you Knuckles, they're together. I saw it happen. You owe me 20 dollars and I expect you to pay me in full."
Sonic groaned. "Of all the inconvenient timing!"
Knuckles ran up to Sonic.
"Tails and I made a bet. He said that you and Amy would get together before next month. Do I owe him 20 dollars or not?"
Sonic and Amy looked around the room. Finally, the blue hedgehog spoke.
"Yes, you owe him 20 dollars."
The two hedgehogs were no longer in the room.
Tails turned to the inter-dimensional travelers.
"There are certain benefits of being able to run at supersonic speeds, but he'll have to talk to us sooner or later. You way have only been waiting for a few days," he nodded at Syaoran, "but we've been waiting for years."

Fay and Kurogane looked at him curiously. Who was Syaoran talking about? Someone from his past that they didn't know about?

Knuckles grumbled as he handed 20 dollars to Tails. The fox decided that he wanted to surprise everyone.
"You mean you and Sakura? I'm sure things will work out fine. If you need me, I'll be in my workshop." He left the room smiling.

Syaoran's face grew instantly crimson at the fox's words. Mokona looked more shocked then ever. Fay, to no one's great surprise, took that moment to laugh.
"Don't look so scared, Syaoran-kun, we knew it all along! You and Sakura-chan are so perfect for each other!" Fay beamed wider than he ever had before and set his head down in his hands. Kurogane snarled at him.
"Well..." Syaoran blushed even brighter as he tried to explain. "Sakura is a Princess and I'm just a commoner. Plus, even if she once had feelings for me, she doesn't remember our past together and never will. It's so much more complicated than you think it is, Fay-san... even if she remembered everything we shared together, I'm still not sure she would care about me that much. I'd probably still be more like a brother to her than a boyfriend."
To his slight annoyance, this caused Fay to hoot with glee. "So you do love her, Syaoran-kun! Don't worry; it'll all work out in the end. Sakura-chan loves you, even if she doesn't know it yet. You'll see."
Kurogane's frown deepened as he turned to face the perpetually-happy magician. "How would you know, mage?" he snapped. "You've never been in love, right?"
Fay just smiled even brighter. "Oh, you don't know that for a fact, Kuro-sama..."

Syaoran's face grew steadily redder at each comment. Kurogane sighed deeply, finding this whole conversation to be a colossal waste of time. "That girl with us is the Princess in her native land, and the kid's a commoner," he grunted in explanation. "It's not a fairy tale. It's real life."
Fay chuckled happily at the turn the conversation had taken: towards Syaoran's love life, and away from his own. Ah yes, he had feelings for another person, feelings very strong and passionate. But since the other person would never want to be around him for more than a second at a time, even if given all the riches in the world, in front of them he simply used his well-worn tight-lipped smile.
Kurogane watched Fay warily out of the corner of his eye even as he spoke. Did Fay love someone? Perhaps Chii, that odd creature he had created in his native land? Well, that was no business to Kurogane. He was in love with the Princess Tomoyo. However, to him Fay had always seemed just a tiny bit... off. Like he was hiding something, something dangerous and dark. Ever since their first meeting, Kurogane had kept a keen eye out for Fay's secrets, keeping note of things that could be harmful to him and the children in the future. But Fay's love life should have no consequence to him. Why did he care at all?

Knuckles looked around. "Oh I get it! You guys are all from a book, and you traveled into the real world!"
"Here are the attack plans." Sonic rushed in and left them an the table before leaving once more.

A huge sweatdrop now rested on Syaoran's head. How could anyone possibly be so slow? And how could he put this so the echidna would understand? "K-Knuckles-san... we're not from a book..."
"Syaoran-kun and Sakura-chan are from a country far away called the Kingdom of Clow," Fay explained with extreme patience. "The Kingdom of Clow is ruled by royalty, and Sakura-chan is that country's princess. Do you understand now?"
"Hold up, mage," snarled Kurogane, leaning back on his chair with his arms behind his head, "there's something important you missed."
Fay turned around with a sweet smile. "Yes, Kuro-rin?"
"Today is the writer kid's birthday," he grunted. "We better honor him in this story somewhere."
"Oh! That's right! It's Samu-san's birthday!" Syaoran looked shocked at his mistake. "How could I forget?"
Fay grinned brighter than ever. "Happy birthday, Samu-kun! Have a great year!"

AHEM. Back to the actual story.
Sonic and Amy tiptoed back into the room.
"Maybe if we're really quiet, they'll ignore us." whispered Sonic.
"Unlikely."
"True."
It was only then that they realized that everyone in the room was looking at them.
