The sun was setting and in Ordon Village, the trees were creating dancing shadows that spread across the surface of the spring where the light spirit Ordona resided. A young woman was standing in the spring, her sandals on the shore. Ilia heard the unmistakable sound of Epona's hooves, and she turned around to see her best friend, Link riding slowly into the clearing near the spring, a dejected look an his face. After a long silence, Ilia spoke.
"You didn't find her yet?" Link shook his head sadly.
"No."
"You will, I promise. Just give it time." The man wearing the legendary green tunic sighed. "I'm going to bed. I promised to help Fado with the ranch tomorrow."
"Good night Link."
"Good night Saria."
"That's not my name anymore."
"What's a thousand years between friends names?" Link asked lightheartedly.
"I thought you were going to bed."
"Alright, I'm going. You're so touchy."
"Am not!"
"Suit yourself." He called over his shoulder as he rode towards his house. Once inside, he took off his hat and lay down on his bed. A tear formed in his eye and he blinked it away.
"Where are you Malon?"

"Sakura-san! I'm so proud of you!"
"Otou-san!" Kinomoto Sakura ran into her father's outstretched arms, beaming ecstatically as she gave him a huge hug. "I'm so glad you came!"
Toya, standing a few feet away, smirked at Sakura's excitement and leaned casually against a tree. "Of course he came, monster."
"I would never miss my only daughter's elementary school graduation," Kinomoto Fujitaka said seriously. He reached down a hand and ruffled his daughter's hair. "And anyway, I still have to give you your graduation gift, Sakura-san."
Sakura looked up at her father with excitement in her eyes. "What is it, Otou-san?"
Fujitaka grinned. "If you could go to any country in the world for spring break, where you want to go?"
Sakura had to think for a minute about that. Her first instinct was somewhere faraway and exciting, like America. Maybe it would be fun to go England, Eriol's birthplace, where he had stayed for the end of fifth grade until Sakura's pleading letters had brought him back to Japan for sixth. Or perhaps it would be fun to go back to Hong Kong and visit Syaoran's mother and four sisters. She hadn't been there in two years, since just after fourth grade. But then a more familiar country passed through her mind, one where she hadn't been for around a year and nine months. It was a place where she had made great friends, a place where she had fought a tremendous battle, and the place where she had realized her true passions and confessed her love to Syaoran. If she could go anywhere, she realized, she would want to go back to Hyrule and see Link and Malon once more.
"I want to go back to Hyrule," Sakura replied.
"Oh? That sounds nice. You had such fun there last time," agreed Fujitaka. "Well then, that's my present to you: a trip to Hyrule for you and all your friends."
"Wow! That sounds great!" Sakura cheered and threw her arms into the air. She would invite Syaoran and Tomoyo and Meilin and Eriol, and they would have the time of their life. Kero would hide away in her purse, and of course she would bring the 52 Sakura Cards she had created in fifth grade. It had been almost a year since she'd really had any reason to use magic. She hoped Link wouldn't be mad that she was so rusty. But then, he would be different too, wouldn't he, after almost two years' time?
"Thank you so much, Otou-san! I can't wait to go back to Hyrule!"

Link woke up early the next morning, stretched, and walked over to his stove. After a quick breakfast, he grabbed his hat and exited his house. Instead of climbing down the ladder from his house which was a treehouse of sorts, he leaped off the balcony and rolled once he hit the ground, ending up an his feet. Epona was already awake. Link hopped into the saddle and grabbed the reins. "Come on girl, let's go." Epona trotted briskly through the village, and up the pathway leading to the ranch. Link arrived at said ranch to find his friend Fado chasing a goat around in a circle. "Come on then! Into the barn with you!" He stopped running once Link had rode up next to him. "Hoy Link, glad you're up early. If you don't mind, would you help me with the goats? They keep runnin' in circles."
"Sure thing Fado, just make sure you lock all the stables this time."
"Sure thing bud. Thanks for the hand." Shortly thereafter, the las goat had been herded into the barn by the green clad man himself.
"Much obliged Link." (He actually says that in the game.)
"I work here you know."
"Yeah, but it's still good to have someone who can handle a horse as well as you. It really speeds things up." Link smiled. "Thanks Fado. I'll be seeing you."
"Take care Link."
"Don't I always?" He rode back into the village, where Rusl, the sword smith, was practicing by the river, which he did every morning."
"Good morning Link. Lovely day, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is." Rusl noticed the distant look an his friend's face.
"You think today's the day?"
"It might be. I just feel--different. Like I'm about to see someone I haven't seen in a long time."
"Well, that's a good sign."
"That depends on who it is. I'm going to Lake Hylia today, if any of the kids ask."
"Alright Link. Have a good day."
"You too Rusl." The emerald hero rode through the village, Faron Woods, and out into Hyrule Field. He spurred Epona onwards, and the mare took off at a gallop that none of the royal horses could match. Within a few minutes, Link arrived at the lake.

"Syaoran! Guess what?!" As soon as her father had finished with her, Sakura leapt into her boyfriend's arms, him holding them out for her instinctively after two years of experience. She was still just as much in love with him as she had been the day that she confessed. Of course, there was that terrible day after fifth grade when she had thought he would have to return to Hong Kong, but after much arguing with Yelan, he and Meilin were allowed to stay in Japan, as well as Eriol. Sakura loved having everyone she loved in one place, and now it would be the same way, just in a very different sort of place.
"Congratulations," Syaoran said with a smile, wrapping his arms around Sakura's waist and gazing into her deep green eyes. "Well, it looks like we're in middle school next year, Sakura."
"Congrats, Syaoran!" Sakura told him impatiently, rushing through the formalities because of the news she was bursting to share. "Syaoran, guess what Otou-san's graduation present to me was?"
Syaoran looked slightly amused at her enthusiasm, but said nothing. "What, Sakura?" he asked with a slight laugh.
"It's a trip to Hyrule!" Sakura cried breathlessly, her eyes shining. "Isn't that great?! We can see Link-san and Malon-san and Zelda-san and everyone again!"
Syaoran paused, confused by her words. "'We'?" he repeated.
"We," Sakura said firmly, giving her love a squeeze. "Otou-san said I could bring you and all my friends, Syaoran, so I'm inviting you and Tomoyo-chan and Meilin-chan and Eriol-kun. Doesn't that sound great?"
Syaoran nodded. Though he didn't show it as much as she did, he was truly just as excited. "I'm looking forward to seeing Tourguide again, heh. I wonder if he'll still call me 'Student.'"
"What are you two lovebirds jabbering about now? We're middle-schoolers! It's time to party! Whooo!"
Both of them turned with a smirk to Meilin, holding Tomoyo's hand with one of hers and waving them both wildly in the air. Eriol stood loftily by her other side, looking very out-of-place amongst sixth-graders. Eriol always gave off the air of someone much older than his thirteen years. Maybe that was because he was really a forty-four-year-old in a thirteen-year-old body, one of two reincarnations of Clow Reed. The other was Sakura's father Fujitaka. He didn't much understand his newly-acquired powers yet, but Fujitaka relished in finally being able to see the ghost of Sakura's late mother, Nadeshiko, his one true love.
"I hear we're going to another country?" asked Eriol curiously, his eyes glinting mischievously behind his glasses.
"Oh, that's right," Sakura recalled. "You've never been to Hyrule before, Eriol-kun. Don't worry--I'm sure you'll love it!"
Eriol grinned. "I'm sure I will."
Tomoyo's head turned gracefully, long, black hair bouncing against her back. "We're going to Hyrule again, Sakura-chan?"
Sakura beamed. "It was a graduation present from Otou-san, and I invited all of you!"
"WOOT!" cried Meilin dramatically. "I can't wait! Do we get a second chance at beating up Ganondork, huh?! And I get to use my sword!"
Sakura and Syaoran exchanged a glance, and both refrained from bursting into laughter.

Link dismounted from Epona and sat on a rock near near the waterline. He gazed out over the lake, taking in every detail. The lake was beautiful, he would give it that, but it wasn't nearly enough to dim the memory of Malon's beauty in the slightest. He reflected on all of the memories he had of her.
Hello Fairy Boy, I knew you were from the forest because of your green clothes. Another memory, of a gossip stone in castle town. (Magical stones that tell the time or give you current events.) It's said that Malon of Lon Lon ranch is waiting for a knight to come and sweep her off her feet. Suddenly, a series of puzzle pieces began to fall together in Link's head. Green clothes-
Knight to come-
Green clothes-
Knight-
Nickname-
Knight-
Green clothes-
Link bolted upright, eyes wide. He dashed over to Epona, leaped into the saddle and took off towards castle town.
NOTE: I realize that Link's logic is rather vague in this moment, but it'll make sense eventually.

"OY, KIDDO! OVER HERE!"
With a laugh, Sakura tugged on Syaoran's hand and ran to the other end of the room. Kero, appearing as a little stuffed lion, was deep in a heated debate with Yukito, but paused to give Sakura a wave.
"I just want to tell Sakura-chan happy graduation, Cerberus--"
"Well, so does Yue, so hurry up!"
"Yue hates this kind of thing though, and I really want to--Sakura-chan!"
Yukito smiled and waved at his little "sister" as the argument came to a slow stop. Sakura beamed and waved back, all romantic feelings for him completely vanished.
"Thank you so much for coming all the way here, Yukito-san," Sakura said with a grin. "I know your and Oniichan's college is far away."
"Well, our graduation was a few weeks ago, so we were going to come back home anyway," Yukito explained. "And you know how much Toya cares about this kind of stuff, as reluctant as he is to show it."
Sakura shrugged. "I guess. But, Yukito-san, guess what?" She was too impatient to wait for his answer, instead babbling on, "I'm going back to Hyrule!"
Yukito looked shocked for a moment, and then pleased. "That's wonderful, Sakura-chan. But you can't possibly be going alone."
"Syaoran and Tomoyo-chan and Meilin-chan and Eriol-kun are going with me," Sakura supplied. "And Kero-chan too, if you want," she added, smiling at the lion slyly.
"Cakeessss," Kero said wistfully, floating upside-down and rubbing his hands together greedily. "Oh yes... cakes..."
"But you can't be going without any supervision is what I meant," explained Yukito with a frown. "Maybe Toya and I should come with you. It also wouldn't hurt to have Yue there in such a magically-dangerous country."
Sakura beamed. "Okay! I'd love to have you two there! It'll be great!"

Link pulled on the reins and Epona stopped in front of a small house with maroon curtains in the windows. It suddenly occurred to Link that Princess Agitha might not be Malon. (Princess Agitha is a character who lives in Castle town. She loves bugs, and asks Link to collect the 24 golden bugs for a ball in her "Kingdom" for the purposes of the story, her age has been altered to match Link's which is ambiguous, but is assumed to be around 17 or 18. Now, The reason I chose her far this role in the story is because I really like her character, and she's going to be REALLY fun to write. She also calls Link Grasshopper because of his clothes. Back to the story. Link hesitated, pondering his dilemma, and weighed the facts in his head. She gave me a nickname because of my clothes, she loves a specific type of animal, and she considers me a knight. Not exactly proof, but it's my best lead so far. He dismounted and walked inside. Agitha's castle was built around a tree. Link never understood how she got the tree into castle town, but he didn't stop to think about it this time. He approached the girl wearing her usual dress and butterfly wings. (Like the halloween fairy wings)
"Hello Grasshopper, how are you today? Welcome to Princess Agitha's insect kingdom."
"Are you Malon?" Agitha's eyes widened, and she froze in place. Memories rushed through her head at lightning speed. Horses, training to use a sword, a deck of cards, Ganondorf, and above all love for the man standing in front of her. As abruptly as they had begun, the memories stopped. Agitha fell forwards, overwhelmed by the revelation, straight into the arms of the hero.
"Are you all right?" Agitha stood up, using Link for support.
"Fairy.... boy." She whispered. Link's heart was pounding in his chest. Agitha raised her eyes from the floor, and met Link's. "I love you." The words came from both of their mouths simultaneously. They stood in each other's arms for what felt like seconds, but was really half an hour, when Link spoke.
"Would you like to Come back to Ordon Village and meet the people you'll be seeing on a regular basis from now on?"
"Why not?" They linked arms and walked outside.
"You remember how to get on a horse, right?"
"Of course I d- is that... Epona?"
"Yeah, I think she missed you."
"You don't say." Agitha laughed an the mare nuzzled her.
Within a minute, the two of them were riding back towards Ordon Village.

ON THE PLANE
"I want food," Kero moaned moodily from inside Sakura's new pink handbag, a graduation present from Tomoyo, who had sewed it herself with Meilin's help.
Sakura grumbled to herself. "Kero-chan, we'll get cakes in Hyrule, so be patient, okay," she repeated without emotion.
Syaoran took her hand, looking concerned. "Are you okay, Sakura?"
"Just tired of hearing someone complain," Sakura muttered grumpily, keeping one hand on the bag's zipper to ensure the creature inside couldn't escape.
"You're not nervous about Hyrule, are you, Sakura?" Syaoran asked with a little smile. He was so used to interpreting her emotions by now that he was almost as good as Tomoyo had once been at reading Sakura. Tomoyo's abilities, while still incredible, had sagged a little over the years, as her number one turned out to be not Sakura, but Meilin...
"I haven't seen Link-san in so long," Sakura agreed with a sigh. "What if he forgot about us? Or what if he doesn't want to hang out with us anymore since he doesn't need our help to fight Ganondorf, Syaoran? What if...?"
Syaoran covered her hands with one of his own and met her eyes gently, knowing exactly how to calm her. "Sakura, don't worry. Tourguide will be as good a friend as he ever was to you. I'm sure you'll be all right, remember?"
Despite herself, Sakura grinned. "I know."

Agitha and Link soon arrived at Ordon Village, where Ilia was waiting. As they approached, Link called out to his friend. "Found her!"
Startled, Ilia stumbled backwards and tripped over a root. Link stopped Epona immediately in front of her.
"Are you all right?"
"I'm fine. And I told you so." Ilia and Link burst out laughing, but Agitha looked confused.
"What did she tell you?" She asked Link, who forced himself to stop laughing.
"That I'd find you."
"Well, you did."
They leaned in and kissed.
"AHEM!" Ilia cleared her throat loudly. Link pulled away with an annoyed look on his face.
"I've kind of just been reunited with my wife who I haven't seen in hundred of years, so I think I'm entitled to at least kiss her."
Ilia blinked. "Oh... right... sorry. Heh. I have something.... to do.... far away... it's important... bye." She took off towards the village, leaving behind a laughing couple, and a horse that could have been laughing, but it would be hard to tell. Link turned back to Agitha. "Why don't we head inside, it looks like it's going to rain." As if on cue, raindrops began to fall from the sky. Slowly at first, but then lightning flashed, thunder sounded and the rain began to pick up. The two lovers hurried inside, just before the rain reached full force.
"Well, this is my house. There's a wood stove, where you can dry your clothes if you want, and I'll go make dinner."
"Okay, but what about the window?"
"What wind-- AGH!" Link bolted up a ladder leading to a window which was now letting in rain, and shut it. "There, now for dinner."

The group reunited as they exited the plane, Toya and Yukito leading the way, with the younger children following behind. As they reached the outside of the airport, Sakura clapped and giggled as she recognized the familiar horses and carriages to take them to town. She turned happily to Eriol and pointed them out, chattering on about the last time she had visited.
Eriol laughed quietly to himself. "You know, Sakura-san, I have been here before. You don't have to explain everything to me."
Sakura looked stunned. "H-huh? When? Why didn't you say anything, Eriol-kun?"
Eriol grinned and blew her mind to smithereens. "Hyrule... I think Clow took Yue there once... a long, long time ago..."
Sakura's mouth fell open. She remembered those words quite well, though Kero had uttered them nearly two years earlier. It was on the fifth post down on the first page of the original story! "But..."
"I am the reincarnation of Clow Reed, Sakura-san," Eriol reminded her. "Though I might not remember everything now, once I see the town I'm sure I'll remember quite a bit."
"Oh," Sakura replied slowly, "that makes sense." Then, upon understanding, she smiled. "But you wouldn't have met Link-san then, right, since you came here three hundred years ago? So I can still introduce you."
"Who knows?" Eriol asked innocently. "Time passes differently in different places, Sakura-san. Maybe a million years will have passed since I was last here, or maybe it will have been no time at all."
((eriol knows. yes.))

The next day, Link awoke to a strange sense of awareness.
"I need to go to Hyrule field." Agitha, who had already gotten up, turned around.
"Why?"
"I'm not sure, but I know that I have to go. You should come with me. It's nothing dangerous."
"Alright, but you might want to eat first."
"Huh? Oh, right."
After breakfast, they went outside to find the children of the village, Talo, Malo, (Yes, they're actually called that in the game and yes, it is a reference to Talon and Malon, just so you know.) Colin and Beth.
"Hey Link!" "Show us your sword attacks again!" "No! I want to see his bow and arrow!" "Don't listen to them, show us the bombs!" "Hey, I was talking first, so Link has to listen to me!" "You so were not talking first!" "Was too!" "Was not!" "Was too!" Link sighed. "How about we play a game. I'll set up three targets' and you'll all take turns shooting the slingshot at them. Whoever gets the highest score wins the golden pumpkin seed." (Where do you think I got that idea, hmm?)
"YAYYY!" all the children cheered at once. Except for Malo, who had been busy going over reports on profits from his shops. After the competition, Link gave all the kids a golden pumpkin seed, because they all hit two of the targets. Then, he and Agitha rode off into Hyrule Field.

The slightly-cramped carriage rolled towards Hyrule Field, Sakura's nose pressed excitedly to the window, a mirror image of her behavior two years ago. However, now Syaoran couldn't have been less tense, unlike last time. He was no longer afraid for his life because of Link--he was looking forward to seeing him.
"LET ME OUT OF HERREEEEE!"
"AUGH, KERO-CHAN!" Sakura jumped slightly and hit her head on the ceiling. Six pairs of eyes turned to her at once. She groaned and quickly unzipped her purse, Kero flying out triumphantly into the open air.
"Are you all right, Sakura-chan?" Tomoyo asked nervously, her hand in Meilin's.
"I'm fine," Sakura said grumpily. "Kero-chan just freaked me out."
"I was suffocating in there, kid," Kero complained huffily. "You totally forgot about me!"
"Yeah, sorry, Kero-chan." Sakura sighed. "I guess I was just a little bit distracted by my happiness."
"Well, we're almost there. Then we can finally get out of this cramped thing," Yukito supplied.
Sakura perked up at once. Hyrule! They were finally there! "Yep!"

Link stopped Epona in the middle of the field to see a carriage approaching. "That's odd, who could possibly be coming from Termina, I wasn't informed of any scheduled visit. Although... there's a familiar magical aura in that carriage. Stay here, I'll go check it out." He dismounted, and jogged over to the carriage, which stopped. He stepped inside and greeted the occupants the way he had been taught by Zelda. "Hello, welcome to Hyrule, what brings you--" He stopped short as him mind registered who he was seeing. "--here."

"Link-san!" cried Sakura delightedly, hopping out of the carriage to wrap him in a hug. "Do you remember us? It's been so long!"
"Tourguide," said Syaoran with a smile, climbing down carefully after her. "Good to see you."
"Hey, you!" Kero flew from the carriage at top speed straight for Link's head. "Take me to the cakes, now!"
Tomoyo and Meilin arrived at the ground together, followed by Yukito and Toya, also moving as one. Finally Eriol, his glasses glinting in the sunlight, stepped down to Sakura's side.
"Oh, Link-san, this is Eriol-kun," Sakura introduced. "He's the reincarnation of Clow Reed! He's a good friend. Eriol-kun, this is Link-san, our tour guide from our last visit." She laughed lightly and studied Link's face, suddenly growing taking on a more serious air. "Is something wrong, Link-san? You look... different somehow."
