Sakura frowned for a split-second, but soon grinned again as she realized that he probably just couldn't recall the exact number of days. He must have some idea of the time, though. That was odd. "It's been a year and nine months, Link-san. Why?"
Eriol looked at her strangely, his head turned down slightly to one side. A tiny mischievous smile flitted across his face as he surveyed Link, to be replaced with sheer politeness in a moment. He would never share what he knew. That was for Sakura to figure out on her own.

"Impossible." Link breathed. "Sakura, you visited Hyrule, helped me defeat Ganondorf, and left. That was 1000 years ago. The Link you knew, is me. I have all of his memories, and new ones of my own. All the people you met, all the places you visited. They've changed. Kakariko Village, the one you knew, was abandoned and reestablished elsewhere. The old village still exists today, but only Impaz, who you knew as Impa, lives there. The Forest has changed as well, and the Kokiri are now the residents of Ordon Village, where I live. They aren't all children any more. The Gerudo are all but gone, and Zora's Domain has expanded. On the other hand, you're here, having aged not two years."

Sakura blinked, shocked to the core. What... what the heck was he saying?! It had been two years, hadn't it? Just two short years! "Link-san... I don't know what you're talking about." Self-consciously, she laughed. Her companions all stared. "It's been two years, not a thousand. I'm sorry, but I think you must be making some sort of joke, right, Link-san?" Every passing second led her to more panic, as it slowly sunk in that Link had been telling the truth. "Right, Link-san?!"
Tomoyo turned to Meilin, concerned, and whispered fervently something that sounded like, "This can't be happening!" Yukito nervously squeezed Toya's hand. Kero floated just above Sakura's head, rubbing his chin curiously. Syaoran stared at Link incredulously, trying to make some sense of his words. Eriol just smiled.

Link sighed. "I'm sorry Sakura, but the Hyrule you knew no longer exists. I'd be happy to show you what Hyrule is now though, if you still want to stay here."

Sakura's eyes widened, her heart suddenly racing. The whole point of choosing Hyrule to go to was to see the country she loved, and now she was told that it had vanished before her eyes. Hot tears raced to her eyes, but she forced them down. She had to be strong for this Link-san... or was it even him? "I do want to stay, Link-san, if that's okay with you. I want to know... what's become of Hyrule, if you would show me." She swallowed. "Would that be all right?"

Link smiled. "Alright then, take a look around, and see for yourself. I must warn you, Hyrule has gotten a lot bigger since you last saw it."

Sakura forced a smile. "All right, I will." She took a deep breath and Syaoran's hand before stepping out into the new field with her friends at her heels--or, in Kero-chan's case, somewhere near her head. Sakura drew in a sharp gasp of air in response to what she saw. "Wow. This is really... different."
"Really different," Syaoran muttered in agreement, his eyes just as wide.
"Oh, my," breathed Tomoyo.
Eriol chose that moment to laugh, startling everyone in range. "Oh, you think it's different when only a thousand years have passed. Try a hundred and fifty thousand. That's really a shocker."
Sakura gaped at him. "You haven't been here for a hundred and fifty thousand years?!"
"More or less," Eriol mused. "It might be closer to a hundred and forty-nine. You know how things are. My math has never been all that great."

"One hundred and fifty thousand years? Did you meet me?" Link thought out loud. "It's not important. Come on, Agitha is probably getting impatient."

Eriol smiled in response to Link's unanswered question, but said not a word.
"Agitha-san?" Sakura asked with a frown. "Who's that?" She didn't remember any Agitha from her last trip to Hyrule... "Syaoran, we never met an Agitha-san, did we?" she asked her boyfriend curiously.
Syaoran shook his head. "No, I don't think so."
"Hmm," Sakura mused.

"Well, all of the people that you met have changed forms. Some of them have the same names that you remember, and some have different names. Also, they don't look the same. You do know Agitha, but you know her as Malon. But don't worry, she said that she would prefer to be called Malon anyways. She also asked me if the light spirits could restore her true appearance, which should work, so you won't stay confused forever."

"Ah, so Agitha-san is really Malon-san!" Sakura smiled once more upon her realization. "That makes sense."
"This is gonna be so confusing," moaned Meilin. Tomoyo gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder.
"Well, I never met any of these people," Toya said with a harsh laugh. "Guess I'll have it pretty easy, huh, monster?"
Sakura gave him a death glare. "Oniichan! All that means is that you won't have any friends!"
Toya shrugged in mock-defeat. "Whatever, monster."
Yukito giggled slightly and turned to Toya, his expression playful yet slightly concerned. "You shouldn't call Sakura-chan that, Toya." His voice was kind and comforting as apposed to scolding.
Toya grinned genuinely, no longer the smirk he wore for his sister. "But it's what she is, Yuki," Toya teased, his tone much more gentle as he addressed the only one who knew how to make him smile.

"Link, I'm back!" a singsong voice called. Link whirled around to see Malon, not Agitha, standing there, her long red hair and favorite dress restored.
"But.. how?" Link could barely speak.
"While you were talking to our friends, I went back to the spring to talk to the light spirit." Link stared for another moment, and then ran over to take his wife into his arms.
"You didn't have to change, you're sill you, no matter how you look." He whispered.
"I know, but I prefer this dress, and I like having red hair." Link chuckled at this.
"Well, why don't we lead our friends back to Ordon Village? It's getting late, and besides, they need to rest if they want the grand tour tomorrow."

"Malon-saaaan!" Sakura happily gave her a grand wave. "Remember me? It's Sakura!"
"They really are the same, as different as they may seem," Tomoyo realized with a little smile. "Hyrule, even if it looks entirely different, is truly the same place." To Meilin's annoyance, she turned then from her girlfriend to address Eriol on her other side. "Just like you and Clow-san, Eriol-kun."
Eriol beamed. "Oh, so you noticed, Tomoyo-san. But then, how could I ever have expected anything less from someone as perceptive as you are?"
As Tomoyo giggled self-consciously at the praise, Meilin tugged on her hand with a loud, "HMMPH." It was all in vain, for Tomoyo wouldn't take her eyes off of Eriol for a moment. Does Eriol-kun like Tomoyo? I sure hope not. He better not try anything! But as Meilin noticed the light in Tomoyo's eyes whenever Eriol spoke, Meilin softened slightly, her shoulders drooping with recollection. But... Tomoyo seems to like Eriol-kun back. This is just, just like Syaoran... when he started to fall for Sakura-chan, and ended up forgetting about me...
"Yeah, it is gettin' pretty late," Toya said loftily, surveying the twelve- and thirteen-year-olds before him with a superior look. "The kids better be gettin' to bed."
"Not before I get my cake!" Kero cried angrily, halting in midair to glare at Toya.

"Cake?" Link blurted. "What cake? OH, you mean the cakes that you ate 50 of last time you were here. I make those. I have some at my house, you can have them, I can always make more."
"But Link, what about desert?" Malon asked.
"You and your sweet tooth," Link laughed. "Okay, so you cant have all of the cakes, but you can have a few."

"WHOOPEEE!" Kero flew a loop in the air, making most of the group laugh--well, everyone except Meilin, still immersed in her moping. "I GET CAKKEEEE!"
"Can we have some too, Link-san?" Sakura asked delightedly, her mood never higher. "Hyrule's cake is the best!"
"Ah, yes, I'm remembering that now." Eriol chuckled to himself. "It's such a shame. I should have brought Spinel. He would have loved the place..." ((Eriol created two guardians, just as Clow created Kero and Yue. The one made to be like Yue is Nakuru Akizuki, also known as Ruby Moon. The one like Kero is Souppi, also known as Spinel Sun. When Spinel eats sweets he gets drunk. xD))
