((lolololol best post ever))
The group stumbled sleepily out of the carriage and into the inn. Sakura made sure to wave to Reando on her way, despite her fatigue. The only problem left was to arrange sleeping quarters. The obvious would be to arrange by couple: Sakura and Syaoran, Toya and Yukito, Tomoyo and Meilin. The only problem there would be, as Tomoyo was quick to point out, that Eriol would be left completely alone. Instead they decided to group themselves by age and gender: Toya and Yukito in one room, Eriol and Syaoran in another, Sakura, Tomoyo, and Meilin in the third. Kero originally wanted to spend the night with Sakura, but due to his grudge against Meilin "the brat," he decided to sleep with Toya and Yukito instead.
Just after the girls undressed for bed, there was a sharp knock on the door. Tomoyo smiled sweetly and ran to greet their guest before Meilin or Sakura could even register that they had one. Meilin grimaced as she noted Eriol's ovular glasses and blue-black hair.
"May I speak with Tomoyo-san for a moment?" he asked the other two girls overly-politely.
"Sure," Meilin spat. Sakura stared. She had never heard Meilin sound so angry before. "Sure, sure, do whatever you want, magician boy!" Her voice rose to near hysterics.
Eriol smiled calmly, increasing Meilin's fury still greater. "Thank you very much, Meilin-san. I will make sure to return her before your lights are out."
As Tomoyo followed Eriol out the door, Meilin let out a roar of rage. "That know-it-all brat seems to think he can do anything he wants just because he's the reincarnation of Clow Reed!" she growled. "Someone should put him in his place! AUGH! I just can't STAND it!"
"Meilin-chan!" Sakura was shocked. She ran forward to steady the Chinese girl, trying not to look afraid. "What's wrong with you? Eriol-kun has never hurt anyone. He doesn't think he's better than anyone, either."
"Eriol-kun. Hmph." Meilin scowled and crossed her arms stubbornly across her chest. "He's trying to steal my Tomoyo and he knows it!"
"That's what this is about? Tomoyo-chan?" Sakura sighed. "Meilin-chan, did you hear the way Tomoyo-chan was talking about you back in the carriage? She's obsessed with you. She would never leave you for Eriol-kun no matter what he said."
"Hmph." Meilin turned away, refusing to believe her. "I don't know. Tomoyo might be 'obsessed' with me, but have you seen the look in her eyes when Eriol-kun complements her...?"

The next morning, Link and Malon awoke early, ate breakfast, and rode over to Kakariko, where Renado greeted them. They then proceeded to the Inn, paid for the rooms, and hooked the carriage up. The pair went to on each of the doors and to tell their guests that it was time to go. Of course, all the doors opened unexpectedly, nearly causing each of them to hit one of their guests in the face with a knock intended for the door.

It didn't help Meilin's mood that Tomoyo had to practically drag her and Sakura out of bed, completely dressed and bright and cheery by the moment that Link and Malon came to call. They met the boys in the hallway, Syaoran automatically hovering to Sakura's side. Eriol stood far across the room from Tomoyo so as to appease Meilin, but Meilin still noticed the way the two were looking at each other...
"So, where're we goin' today, Link?" asked Kero happily, completely oblivious to the tension brewing before him. "I hope it has good food!"

"Well, I was thinking that we would go to Death mountain today. Don't worry, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. I think they fired the location namer after that. Anyways, the Gorons are friendly, as you know, but their culture has changed somewhat. I think you'll find it most interesting. Especially you student there's a lot of archaeological stuff.. oh, wait, wrong you. Forget I said that. Let's go, the climb is a little tough at first, but it gets easier."

Syaoran beamed at the name "Student," but frowned at the comment about archaeology. "I like archaeological stuff as much as the next person, Tourguide, but... yes, I think you must have the wrong person." He must have said the wrong word by accident. He meant the wrong person, not the wrong... the wrong me. Whatever that means.
"I think it sounds great, Link-san," Sakura told him positively, when no one else seemed either excited enough or awake enough to answer. "Let's go!"
"Now wait just a minute there, Sakura," Kero interrupted suspiciously. "This 'Death Mountain' sounds great an' all, but it doesn' sound like a place that woul' have a lotta food." He flew directly in front of the tour guide's face and glared him in the eyes. "Where're we gettin' breakfast, Link?"
"That is an issue," agreed Yukito with a small cough. "I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm starving."
The others rolled their eyes.

"Although the Gorons eat rocks, they also have ancient ceremonial recipes that are prepared for visitors. They make some of the best food in Hyrule. The only others with that kind of food are the Zoras, and Yeto and Yeta. Yeto and Yeta are two yetis who live in Snowpeak ruins. They make the best soup that you've ever tasted. I guarantee it."

Kero sighed happily and floated away once more. "Arright, Link, you sure think of everything, I'll give you that much." He rubbed his little paws together greedily. "Let's get goin'!"
"It sounds great," Yukito agreed happily.
"Yes, let's go, Link-san," Eriol said with a small smile in Tomoyo's direction. Meilin literally growled.
"What's up with Meilin?" Syaoran breathed in Sakura's ear.
"She thinks Eriol-kun is trying to steal Tomoyo-chan from her," Sakura muttered back, rolling her eyes at the idea.
Syaoran laughed. "Eriol? Steal Tomoyo away? Oh, boy, does Meilin have it wrong." He shook his head, chuckling brightly to himself. "Eriol was telling me last night about what he and Tomoyo are planning. I would tell Meilin myself, if it wouldn't ruin the surprise."
"Planning?" Sakura looked baffled. "What are Tomoyo-chan and Eriol-kun planning, and why is it a secret?"
Syaoran shook his head once more. "Oh, Sakura, Sakura... it's a silly thing, really. I don't know why they're making such a big deal about it. It's just--"
"COME ON, SAKURA-CHAN! WE'RE GOING NOW!"
"Hoe?" Sakura's queries were interrupted by a pushy Meilin, who grabbed her hand and dragged her in the opposite direction. Syaoran smirked and waved a mock-goodbye. Well, I guess I can hang out with Meilin-chan while Tomoyo-chan is busy with Eriol-kun, Sakura mused.

The climb to the summit of Death Mountain was rather tedious, because Link had to keep checking to see if anyone was tired, had tripped, or was caught in a steam vent. Finally, the entrance to Goron City appeared.
"Well, that took longer than expected. But look there's Darbus, the Goron leader."
They approached the large rock like being until he caught sight of them.
"Greetings brother, I see you have brought visitors, as expected. This way, we have a welcoming meal already prepared."

"Welcoming meaaaaal!" Kero flew around the group in circles, eventually containing his rotations to around Yukito's head, as he was the only one that didn't get quickly annoyed.
Meilin stuck to Sakura's side like glue. Sakura could tell that she was committed to do anything to keep her mind off of Tomoyo and Eriol when she only complained twice during the entire climb. By the time they reached the top, even Sakura, who was extremely athletic, was out-of-breath. Only Eriol still seemed perfectly calm and composed, smiling mysteriously at the others. Tomoyo panted at his side, video camera rolling, focused perpetually on Sakura and Meilin together.
Sakura had to tug on Meilin's hand a little to do it, but she had made up her mind to meet everyone in this new Hyrule and make friends with all of them. While the others hurried to eat, Sakura approached the rock-being with a smile. "Good morning! My name is Sakura. What's yours?"

Link walked up to Sakura. "That's Gor Coron, one of the village elders. He's meditating right now, he can't hear you. The Gorons are really into wrestling nowadays," Link changed the topic and gestured over to a ring where two large Gorons were struggling to push each other outside he boundaries ."There's also a-" Link dropped his sentence abruptly and stared across the room. The torches in the room cast shadows that danced across everything, but Link's focus was on Malon. Three thoughts ran through his head in a second, but it felt like forever. She is so beautiful.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
There are exceptions to every rule. Link was snapped out of his trance rather abruptly as he fell to his knees, gasping for air. Malon was at his side in a heartbeat. "Link, are you okay? What's wrong?"
"I'm fine," Link said between gulps of air. "I just forgot to breathe for a while, that's all."
"You forget to breathe?"
"I occasionally forget to breathe when I'm looking at you."
"You've never said that before."
"A thousand years is plenty of time to come up with new ways of expressing powerful emotions."
"But you actually forgot to breathe."
"It won't happen again, I promise."
"Good, I don't like it when you aren't breathing."
"Shall we get something to eat?"
"I don't see why not."
They got up, and walked over to the table, where an orange/yellow blur was zooming around the table, apparently consuming any food in its path on contact.

"Oh." Sakura looked disappointed, but shrugged it off and hurried to join Syaoran and Tomoyo at the feast. She had seen Syaoran meditating before as part of his training and knew that as much as someone loves you, it's never a good idea to interrupt them while meditating. She allowed herself a quick chuckle as she remembered that time that he had tried to teach Meilin to meditate... needless to say, it hadn't ended well.
"What're you laughing at, Sakura-chan?" Meilin asked with a happy smile, her words slightly muffled due to her mouth being stuffed with food.
"Oh, it's nothing," Sakura said automatically, waving the comment away.
The food was gone in no time at all, due to a few certain members of the group (coughkeroandyukitocough) who each had a bigger appetite than the rest of the group combined. Tomoyo sat by Eriol's side, and so Meilin compensated by chatting with Sakura and Syaoran. It wasn't altogether uncomfortable, Sakura mused. It was very much like the time just after Meilin had left for Hong Kong, when she and Tomoyo and Syaoran would hang out together, only now it was Meilin instead of Tomoyo. Sakura liked Meilin, of course, but she missed her best friend almost as much as Meilin did. Whatever Tomoyo and Eriol were planning had better be good.

Link and Malon were enjoying themselves as they sat and talked with the group. Malon Leaned in and whispered in Link's ear. The hero nearly choked on his food, and turned bright red.
"Umm... ah.. well... yeah but... can we talk later?"
"Sure, why not," the redhead said innocently.
"Humph. It wasn't funny 1000 years ago, and it isn't funny now."

Sakura's head turned innocently to the Hylian couple in front of her, easily distracted from Meilin's shallow conversation. "What's not funny, Link-san?"

"Huh? Nothing! Oh, look, it's almost time to go, we should finish up here, so if there's anything else you want to do, you should do it now'" Link said hurriedly.

Sakura blinked. "O-okay, Link-san." Hoe? Why is Link-san so embarrassed? He's reacting to something that Malon-san said... Is Malon-san keeping something from us too? Sakura sighed and shook her head. It seemed like everyone had secrets these days she wasn't allowed to hear about, secrets that were tearing her friends apart. This was nothing like her last trip to Hyrule, where the only tension had been between her and Syaoran. Now it felt like that was the only place there wasn't tension. She smiled at the thought. Syaoran and I will never keep secrets from each other. We'll love each other forever.
"Well, well, that meal certainly was nice," Kero mumbled happily from his space near Tomoyo and Eriol. For a fraction of a second, Sakura wondered if Kero was in on their plans too. Was she the only one who hadn't been told? Sakura was hurt. Tomoyo-chan is my best friend, and Eriol-kun and I are really close too. Why aren't I allowed to know?
"We should get going, like the tour guide said," Toya said with a grunt, getting to his feet and pulling Yukito up beside him. He was startled to see a fierce glare from Syaoran pointing his way after his words.
Oh, so Sakura's brother thinks he can steal my nickname for Tourguide, huh? Syaoran thought, fuming all the while. Hmph. I hate that guy so much.
